Happy Mother's Day to me!

Yes, I realize this post is a little premature, but I am excited!

If you remember from this post, I am the proud owner of a Nook Color. I have had it for almost 4 months and have read a good amount of books on it, but have semi-regretted my purchase. It is a great product, don't get me wrong, but I bought it for the wrong reasons. I was jaded by the ability to get on the web on it. What I didn't realize is the fact that reading it in sunlight is difficult. I had to adjust the screen brightness (to the highest level!) and it still wasn't right. And isn't that the point of an eReader? To be able to read comfortably? It is almost summer, and I envision many days of playing outside with the kids and reading a book in the warm weather. But I can't do that with the Nook I have.

Also mentioned in that post is the tablet Josh got himself for Christmas. He hates it. After doing research, he discovered he could 'jailbreak' my Nook Color and use it as a tablet. After hearing this news, I was on the hunt for the best deal on a regular Nook. And I found it. I ordered myself a refurbished Nook from Overstock for $88 (including shipping and a 2 year warranty). How is that for awesome? I was a little skeptical about a refurbished one, but Josh convinced me that they are almost in brand new condition by the time they are fixed and resold. The website has a 30-day, money back guarantee, so I guess I can't really lose.

So say hello to my new friend, who I hope to use often and get a ton of books read this summer. I'm so excited!

Easter 2011

Well, Easter has come and gone.

We wound up dropping the kids off with Josh's mom and step dad on Saturday night for what was supposed to be used as a date night. I really wanted to see Water For Elephants, but wound up deciding not to torture my dear husband and decorated cupcakes instead. I stole the idea for these adorable cupcakes from a girl on a mommy board I frequent. They are beyond cute.

I had to buy a couple of new items to be able to pipe the frosting to look like grass, but I am really happy with how they turned out. It was a super easy project and they were a hit. :)

Anyway, so for Easter, we did not take advantage of the opportunity to sleep in (ugh) and got ready to see the kids. We brought their Easter baskets to Josh's mom's house and let them open them there. I didn't take any pictures of them, because let's face it. They are 9 months and 2 years old. They did not get spoiled by us. Cameron's basket (which is shaped like Lighting McQueen) had a Curious George DVD, a small container of no-spill bubbles, a cheap set of sidewalk chalk, a plastic egg filled with M&Ms and a chocolate bunny. Hannah's (which is a white bunny) had a bath toy, a toothbrush, a package of Gerber yogurt melts and a container of puffs. Big spenders here! But their grandmas spoiled both of them, so they didn't go without. :)

We hope you had a great Easter! Hopefully the weather will get the memo that it is almost May and warm up for some outdoor play very soon. Stay tuned for a post dedicated to Cameron's last day at Kid's Gym - coming very soon!

Hannah's 9 Month Stats

Our girl has stayed pretty consistent with her measurements. She always lands in the 97th percentile for her height and about the 90th for her weight. Her 9 month stats are exactly in those ranges. She weighs exactly 22 pounds and is 29.5 inches long. She has gained almost 13 pounds and 8.5 inches since she was born. Such a big girl! Now let's look at the charts to see how she's growing..

And just for fun.. Cameron's 9 month stats!
He weighed 19 pounds 8 ounces and was 29 3/4 inches long.

Success!

Feast your eyes on this...

How awesome is this? I have lost 25 pounds while I've been on Weight Watchers. Yes, I know it's been 8 months since I started, but I am still really proud of the 25 pound weight loss. This motivates me even more!

Hannah is 9 months old.

Well this is a few days late. Hannah turned 9 months old a few days ago. What is she up to these days? Well...

She is a crawling machine. She is getting faster everyday and we've had to start gating her in the living room so she doesn't get into everything. She is VERY curious.

She claps, a lot. She started this a few weeks ago, but it is the cutest thing.

She has been trying to pull up on just about everything. Tables, peoples' legs, unsturdy toys.. She has taken a few spills but gets back up right away. She's tough.

She has one tooth. A tiny little snaggletooth. She hasn't been acting too terribly fussy, so maybe that's it for now. We'll just have to see..

She is wearing size 12 month clothes. It looks like she might be starting to slow down growth wise. As long as she fits into the huge stash of 18 month summer clothes we have, everything will be just fine. :)

She goes to the doctor for her 9 month well visit tomorrow, so I will update with her latest stats tomorrow. And now for her 9 month pictures. Such a big girl.

Do you see her tooth?

It's that time again.

Time to lose weight, of course. Summer is right around the bend, and darn it, I want to wear cute summery clothes! So it's back to Weight Watchers for me. I have had amazing success with this program twice in the past, so I have complete faith in the program and myself.

The day Hannah was born, I weighed almost 240 pounds. Unbelievable. She was born, and I instantly lost almost 10 pounds (from her alone), plus a bunch of water weight. By the time I was able to exercise, I was down to 210 pounds. I started WW in August and finished my 3 months in the beginning of November. In 3 months, I lost 21 (hey, every pound counts!) pounds. I was doing great, until I fell off the wagon. The holidays crept up on me, and I (stupidly) decided to hold off on the dieting until after the New Year. Stupid.

Well now it's April. I started another 3 month run, which will end just before Hannah's birthday in July. I am starting off at 186 pounds and hoping to end it at 160 pounds. It might happen, it might not. I would be thrilled to lose another 21 pounds. My weigh in days are Mondays, so look forward to posts to show my progress every week. I am trying to refrain from weighing myself throughout the week to see how I'm doing. We'll see how I do.

Here's to being skinny again!
